My story... Where to begin?
Well, I learned to crochet out of desperation for something to do when I was very ill as a teenager. Months spent unable to leave my bed for long periods of time, meant I was able to grow a love for making things with my hands. As my health slowly started to improve, my passion for creating continued to deepen and broaden. New skills were picked up over the years, giving me a goal to strive for perfection in my work.
I used my new skills to make gifts for my family and friends. My sisters encouraged me to start selling my work online, a rather daunting prospect, but I'm so glad they gave me that confidence. Since 2014, I have had this little shop giving me a way to fund my hobbies.
You will often find me curled up on the sofa, crochet hook in hand, busily whipping something up whilst watching my latest addiction on Netflix. When people ask me how long it takes me to make something, it's often easier to reply with "2 episodes of Once Upon A Time, 3 Gilmore Girls' and a Call the Midwife".
Once I found out my sister was pregnant, my focus on making fingerless gloves, doilies and fabric hearts quickly shifted to booties, cardigans and hats! After making a few rather strangely shaped booties and doll-sized hats, I found my feet and started finding ways to make an ordinary piece of clothing that little bit better. Flowers, bows, and frilly edges became the norm once my niece was born. When my second niece was born 1 year and 1 month later, I improved upon my own patterns, tweaked patterns I'd bought and wrote entirely new ones. Once I started to consistently make good quality clothes, I decided it was high time I shared them with the wider public!
I hope this has given you a little insight into my world, but if you will excuse me, my Netflix and crochet project is calling me...
