Meet the maker Amanda Crago
I am a Jewellery Artist/Designer living in Cornwall. Originally born in Australia, I moved to the UK with my family for a change of life, to further my dream of studying jewellery and to visit as many historic places as possible! I have had some of my creations turned into projects in the UK's Bead Magazine and Making Jewellery Magazine, as well as in the Beadworker's Guild Journal! One of my more complex pieces, 'Sea Necklace' was shown at the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery August - October 2009. My work is unique, as I usually don't make the same thing twice, so you will have an item that is what I like to call modern heirloom jewellery, something to treasure!
I am natural hoarder (I hate to throw anything away!) and I like to incorporate all kinds bits and pieces into my work - fibres, buttons, stones, hardware store items and even bottle caps! I also make elegant pieces fit for a Bride!
I am predominately self-taught, but did receive a Distinction in my City & Guilds creative techniques in jewellery course at Truro College in 2010!
You can subscribe to my blog for all my beady exploits: www.blog.bowerbirdjewellery.co.uk, or 'like' my page on Facebook, just search for Bowerbird Jewellery. Hope you can drop by and say Hello!
