Item details

I'd mostly been painter and wanted to try printmaking. I came across the mezzotint technique after was instantly drawn to it as it all about the tone. The technique has a very rich history in Britain and up until the mid 1800s it was widely used a way to reproduce paintings in black and white. There was even a pirate industry that came out from it.

It's mostly used for creating original artwork these days. The image itself is an extension of another project that fits in nicely with The Pale House. I use a sepia ink and off white paper which gives the work an old photograph type look.
