I painted many pictures in this hidden valley off the main walking routes in the Howgills and would often sit on the slopes with my painting kit until the last light. This was one such evening, at the end of a sunny day with just a few gentle clouds in the sky. The fascinating shapes and colours of the hilly ridge opposite kept me at work until it began to get chilly and the moon came out to tell me it was time to go.
