I have been experimenting with monoprinting on fabric. This one is a slightly different take on the garden designs which I love to stitch.

Full description
A pretty and detailed garden boder design, printed onto fabric, hand embrroidered and backed with felt creates this lovely bookmark.
Fabric paints were used to create the design on a 'printing plate'. Fabric was placed onto the wet design, and carefully lifted off, to reveal patches of colour corresponding to the flower border and a lovely mottled blue sky. The detailed flowers, roses, daisies, delphiniums, were embroidered in simple stitches using a palette of colours which matches the printing, using both vintage and modern threads. Matching crochet cottons have been used to blanket stitch around the edge of the bookmark which has been backed with a layer of felt.
The bookmark has been completed by the addition of tails cut from a length of blue daisy trim.
Length of printed panel - 14.5 cm approx.
Total length - 21 cm approx.
