I had a few old sketchbooks with interesting paper and I'd also collected some old maps with not much notion of what to do with them but then I got on the idea of making a book, so I went on a one day course and learnt how to hand stitch a book. And then I was hooked!
Its great to work with a different material as I normally work with fabric and I've really enjoyed making a series of these notebooks each using different recycled papers mixed with good cartridge paper for sketching or writing.
I hope people enjoy using them as much as I enjoyed making them!

Eco-Friendly Leather Journal.
This hand-stitched soft-cover journal has been lovingly made from offcuts of leather and recycled paper.
It contains 80 pages (160 sides) of various types of paper - coloured, squared, lined and plain - taken from old sketchbooks and interspersed with 120gm cartridge paper. It also has pages from an old road map of the British Isles.
The cover is decorated with an applique leather triangle design and closes with 2 snap fasteners.
Would make a great travel journal, with room to add in tickets, photos, etc. A lovely gift.
