The main picture shows the original wax sculpt of this plaque and I cast them in copper or pewter (please see the pewter version in my listings)

I sculpted this Red squirrel plaque in shallow relief, moulded it and now produce them in cold-cast copper or cold-cast pewter (metal and resin) in my coal shed. They have a teaspoon of coal dust in each one to give them a dark base colour.

I have inscribed the latin for Red squirrel, 'sciurus vulgaris' around the edge along with it's rough translation, 'animal which sits in the shadow of it's tail'. The squirrel is leaping across a gleaming sun which has rays beaming out from it. A couple of acrylic gems add a little extra sparkle.

After casting, I polish, buff and wax each plaque and then attach it to a creamy ceramic tile which has a small brass hanger at the back. They are then carefully wrapped in lilac tissue paper and gift boxed in a black, recycled cardboard presentation box which has been decorated with lilac paper raffia and silver paint.
