I make my pottery in my studio/workshop in Lancashire. I use a variety of stoneware clays and porcelain.
Stoneware and porcelain is the strongest form of ceramics. The glaze and the clay body are completely bonded together, so the glaze doesn't chip off the clay. The pots are fully vitrified. even with no glaze on the clay is non porous.
All my stoneware and porcelain is fired in my propane powered kiln in a reduction atmosphere. I think this gives the glaze more character and it radically alters the colours.
Firing the kiln from start to finish can last up to 24hours, and I have to continually adjust the flame and the kiln to get the desired effects from the glazes.
I make commisioned pieces, so if you have any ideas let me know

Full description

This vase was thrown then altered to make it oval.

It is decorated with three stripes, one in porcelain slip, one in copper oxide and one in iron oxide. It was then glazed with celadon green.

In the kiln parts of the vase were oxidised an parts were reduced altering the oxide colours. Parts of the copper are green and parts red.

The celadon glaze was also altered, parts being green and parts a honey colour.

A happy kiln surprise.

Reduction fired to 1300c.

Would look great as a table decoration or to brighten up your kitchen windowsill.

Watertight and dishwasher proof.

Size approx 12 cm x 11 cm diam. x 12 cm high 633 g weight.
