I'm offering something a little more whimsical than my usual needle books, today. A charming huswif, or housewife, in floral-print grey cotton with hand-embroidered details.
A huswif or housewife is a portable sewing book designed to carry a few essential items. The name originates from when men, going to war, would take a "housewife" with them to allow them to darn their own socks, sew their own buttons, and take care of other little things.
This huswif includes a pocket with button closure for storing scissors, a thimble pocket, another large pocket for storing miscellaneous items, sheets of felt for storing pins and needles, and a very cute little pincushion.
