love kimonos and am fascinated by the fact that a whole kimono is constructed from just one roll of fabric called a silk bolt or 'tanmono'. It is an exact length and width and nothing gets wasted. This in turn denotes the finished size of my cushions! I hope you can display and enjoy this cushion as if a beautiful work of art or sculpture. Much of the cloth I use is hand embroidered or hand -printed and I think this is a wonderful way of preserving such an ancient and revered craft.

'Tsunami Sea and Love Birds'
White cotton fabric with bold indigo blue wave and bird design cushion. Only one cushion remaining! Available in the slightly different design (shown in the last image).
This beautiful and unique scatter cushion is handmade from a genuine japanese kimono dating from 1960. The fabric originates from the Niigata region in Japan which has been a main producer of kimono cloth for over one hundred years.
Measures 30cm x 30cm.
Has a duck feather filler.
100% cotton cover.
Vintage white cotton fabric on reverse of cushion.
Removable cushion cover with pillow case opening for easy cleaning.
