Meet the maker maralyn Mcgrath

THANKYOU FOR VISITING -
Once a stitcher always a stitcher! From embroidery to tailoring, from early teens to …. I have enjoyed designing and creating items for home and personal use. From clothes to dolls to bags and lots in between. Attending college for tailoring further expanded my knowledge. My other passion - gardening led to horticulture college, working in a garden centre, designing and maintaining plant displays in offices etc. Then joy of joys opening my own garden nursery.
After a few years I returned to sewing. Can't beat a bit of variety.
In the 1970''s I made the large dolls for three sisters & I found out recently that they still have them! I was surprised & really pleased that they are still loved.

It was whilst on a great touring holiday around the Western Isles of Scotland that I realised how beautiful, versatile and iconic Harris Tweed is. Since then I have enjoyed the pleasure of working with iconic tweed. The colours of the tweed reflect the colours and shades found on the islands. It is lovley to be able to work with a fabric that is hand dyed and handwoven into such lovely shades and patterns. A passion awakened during a great holiday in the western isles especially the Isle of Harris and a visit to a gem of a shop in Stornoway.

My Harris Tweed bags & purses are now stocked by Peter at his 'Best Friends gift shop' which is in Poulton le Fylde in Lancashire.

Everything I make is undertaken with great care & attention to detail

Items are posted within 3 days of ordering. I am happy to post to other countries, contact me for postage details.
