Meet the maker Esther Warner
Esther Warner says, “When I was little I loved getting post. The excitement of getting a letter or something delivered to my door when it WASN’T my birthday or Christmas was really exciting. Wondering who had sent it and what it could be…. The anticipation of opening the envelope to discover what was inside was thrilling! ” In later years Esther was very homesick at boarding school and the daily post distribution became the most exciting part of the day.
These childhood experiences led Esther, in adulthood, to start designing cards. In 2003 she completed an IT degree as a mature student, and since then she has developed her interest in computerised card-making. In the corporate world she was awarded ‘Worcestershire Businesswoman of the Year’ in 2005, leading her to reflect on how to best combine her passion for paper and creativity and her proven business knowledge.
Since then her love of sending cards ‘just because’ has deepened, both in business where a handwritten card can set you apart from the competition and also for friends and family who feel extra special when they receive a personalised greeting. Esther continues, “We are all so immersed in technology 24/7 with texting, tweeting and emailing that to send a bespoke card means you have thought about someone for more than the time it takes to text or tweet and therefore makes them feel more appreciated. Also, people tend to put cards on display in their home or at the office; it shows that they are well-liked and therefore more approachable.”
Each card from we♥cards is filled with love and made for the recipient personally; Esther hopes that they convey in some small way the excitement she felt when she was small and received a card from her Grandma! All Esther’s cards can be found on Folksy so please pop over and take a peek!
