Meet the maker Linda Bengtsson
My name is Linda and I am originally from Sweden, but have, like my Viking ancestors moved to England. Not to loot and pillage mind, but for love.
I come from a family of textile craftswomen. My mother and my grandmother began to teach me to sew, embroider and crochet when I was only little. I would watch my grandmother weave and sit with my mother in the evening crafting together. I still use tools that have been handed down in the family.
My main interest now is tablet weaving, weaving bands and trims using thin cards with four holes. This is a documented weaving method from iron ages and onwards.
I mainly use wool and silk that I hand dye using natural plant dyes. I aim to use the same colours that would be used historically. I also try to recreate historical patterns and use them for inspiration.
