Meet the maker

My daughter (she was 15 at the time) made her fingerprint into a silver charm for me for Mothers' Day. It was a lovely leaf shape with her fingerprint captured in the silver with To Mum Love Chloe written on it by her. She explained how she made it using a clay that when fired in a kiln, turned into pure silver. I was so fascinated that I went on a course to learn the process myself. I was amazed to see how silver clay could be turned into silver once fired.

I started making fingerprint jewellery initially, but have progressed to making more complex pieces as I have found they are much more enjoyable and satisfying to produce and enable me to experiment with a more individual style. As I used to do pottery I found this to be a similar process which I also enjoyed.

I hope you enjoy your piece of jewellery as much as I enjoyed making it but if you are not happy please see below.
