Meet the maker Helen Melhuish

I am fascinated by lines. It's taken me Quite Some Time to come to this conclusion, but as my main interests these days are pyrography and ink and watercolour art I guess I shouldn't be surprised!

In recent years I have developed my skills in artistic and detailed pyrography. I decorate, amongst other things, boxes, ring dishes, wooden fruit and eggs. I personalise hanging decorations and work on fiddly things such as thimbles and turned acorns. I find pyrography a very primal and satisfying occupation. I also enjoy the fact that there is very little room for error!

I love the natural world - trees and plants in particular - and this is reflected in my work. I live with my growing family in the dramatically beautiful High Peak of Derbyshire and feel blessed to have the wilds of the Peak District on my doorstep.
