Meet the maker Sarah Ruby

Hi,

Ruby's etc was born in 2005 when I was sat twiddling my thumbs in front of the TV one day and I picked up some stray beads and a bit of string and made a lovely bracelet! From there my love of beads and of making lovely jewellery grew and grew and even ended up being passed onto my Dad who has now ended up sharing my passion for all things bead!

Today we are a successful little "cottage industry" making beaded and recycled jewellery (as well as repairing costume jewellery) for all occasions and always at extremely reasonable prices (as we mainly do it for our love of beads and enjoyment of our craft so we really just try to cover costs so we can buy more beads!). We use beads of all sorts, shapes and sizes, both old and new although our personal favourites are gemstone beads and lampwork glass beads. I also love getting an old and broken piece of jewellery, stripping it right back to the basic components and then making something new and fabulous from what's left!

I am very proud of my Dad as, not only does he make gorgeous jewellery, but that he has let his passion for beads grow into a way of helping him manage his condition (he has Parkinsons) as it helps with his hand to eye co-ordination - he was even featured in Bead Magazine for this and is he a fantastic ambassador for all with Parkinsons. Love you Dad! x

Please feel free to get in touch if you want to ask us anything about any of our pieces or if we can make something special to order for you or even if you have have a cherished but tired piece of jewellery that we can give a new lease of life to for you.

Sarah
