Meet the maker Marna Lunt
I'm Marna, also known as Min to those of you who find Marna just a bit too weird. I was born in the glorious North Yorkshire Moors and grew up amongst the heather, lapwings and peat. In my daydreaming moments which are A LOT, I am skipping around the sheep poo in that beautiful wilderness with the Amelie soundtrack travelling in the wind.
I've moved around the place quite a lot looking for fun and inspiration, found lots of both but have difficulty remembering much of either!
I lived in the south of Spain for a while and explored the wonderful city of Manchester for a good few years. I have also made it my mission to visit as many art galleries around the world as possible, but found that through out all my travels the draw of the Transporter Bridge, Whitby Abbey and Roseberry Topping was too strong and I have settled back in James Cook country. So now I am joined by my scrummy husband Simon and my rather perfect children Arthur and Phoebe, to share in my new North East adventures.
I love painting and art and stuff and that. I have always been creative and had a strong need to paint, draw and sew throughout my entire life. I knew at the age of five when I was sat in the Lealholm village grave yard in primary school drawing sheep that this is what I wanted to do forever and at last I have my way! *evil cackle*
I have a BA (hons) degree in Fine Art Painting, I am also a highly trained & qualified florist, have won numerous prizes and awards for both floristry and painting/drawing. Sewing and embroidery and most things textile is a hobby I have adored since being tiny and was the school 'speed cross stitcher' for making church kneelers (beat that!). I'm teaching myself crochet at the moment, needle felting is next. So watch out for crochet overkill with my work next year. (can you overkill crochet? I think not)
Before having my babies I was a marketing manager and I was also a freelance mural painter, but when the gorgeous Arthur was born life changed. Arthur has complex needs due to brain damage when he was born, I am his main carer and I work my sewing around his and his sisters needs. My work is my therapy and I utterly adore it, need it, yearn for it. As my children grow and I have more time to play with it I plan to take over the world, if that's OK with you?
