Meet the maker Michele Knibbs

Hi,

My name is Michele. I have been a trained florist for over 20 years now.
I studied Floristry at Southwark college in London for 3 years, where i gained my City and Guilds parts 1 2 3 & 4. I also had a placement in a shop working during the week and weekends.

Time passes so quickly, it seems like yesterday i was a 12 year old girl, sweeping the floors and making tea, and absorbing all i could from the Florists - hoping one day i could be just like them.

Since qualifying, i have worked in and managed a variety of Florists. Floristry really becomes your life, many of my friends are florists too. It keeps me on my toes, i have to keep up to date with all the latest trends, so i can satisfy my Brides!.

Due to the recent recession and teamed with the fact that supermarkets are selling flowers at cut prices, Florist shops are becoming harder to find. Unfortunately I myself was made redundent, due to these factors, so i took a big step and decided to start my own company Muscari Whites, and made the decision to concentrate mostly on weddings. It has turned out to be the best decision of my life - so far!.

I have made collections of Bespoke Wedding bouquets, Bridesmaids bouquets, hair pieces, Groomsman buttonholes, wrist corsages, ladies lapel corsages and cake toppers. In creating these i use an abundance of embellishments such as: beads, pearls, re-claimed trimmings, vintage jewellery, brooches, crystal and glass droplets, vintage lace, ribbons, felt, buttons and silks. It takes a certain type of artist to create these stunning bouquets, and i find myself drawing on all of my floristry skills to do this.

As i mentioned earlier ,Floristry is my life, my passion and my calling, When i'm not creating these beautiful bespokes items, You'll find me in the workshop where i work, creating fresh bespoke items for my many clients. Always thinking of my next bespoke item to create...
