Meet the maker Heather Richards
Hello!!
I am a busy arty working mum living in rural Norfolk with my three wildly creative children
I make things!!...I pot and paint, sculpt and stitch, do creative things with my children, the preschool children and the primary school children - Just for the sake of it...I like art to be accessible, I like making things that make people smile, things to treasure, mugs with texture - truly hand painted, something you can run your finger over and feel the paint.
A '69 child' I have a sepia tinted vision of village greens, willow and leather noises, muffled clinks of tea cups, fluttering bunting and fetes - Ohhhh who can resist a good fete! Always summer...street parties, silver jubilee....
I love bunting, open sky, blowing meadows, wild woods, random 'collisions' with strangers and long catch ups with old friends.
I try to source materials as locally as possible, but this becomes increasingly difficult....My moulding material comes from shelfanger - a village down the road...Raw ceramic materials come from stoke, some clay comes from Henry Watsons in Wattisfield, any bought in bisque comes from UK companies operating in Stoke on Trent.
I enjoy producing handpainted designs on earthenware bisque using foodsafe englobes and stains. I fire to earthenware temperatures using lead free glaze, and each design is totally hand painted, so each one is different. I can do matching sets - but they wont be identical...I like that, I hope you do to!
I do a lot of one offs, celebration ceramic pieces and gifts for people having life events. I am always happy to discuss any design with you, just email me with your requirements and I can give you a quote.
Apart from this I also do endless laundry, make lunch pack ups, wipe child goop from surfaces, pick soggy cereals from my socks, tread on lego and plastic dinosaurs, moan that the house is always a state and laugh a lot...
