Meet the maker

Emily and Anne are an independent duo based in Manchester and London. They met at Kingston University, where they both studied Illustration & Animation (BA)Hons.

After graduating, the girls decided they wanted to work together, and they directed and animated their first collaboration, A Film about Poo in 2009. The film went on to screen at around fifty international film festivals, winning a total of seven awards. Emily and Anne's second film together was commissioned by Bolton Museum & Archives. Spin Spun Span is an abstract and surreal history of the cotton industry in the North West of England, and is part of the permanent collection at Bolton Museum. They are currently working on their third film, which will also be abstract, and is about sleep deprivation.

Between directing films, Emily and Anne do freelance animation for TV and film, teach animation workshops, and produce and illustrate their own zines and crafts.
