Meet the maker Eleanor Veness

This is the beginning of a business in which I hope to sell prints of my selected work (drawings, paintings, illustrations etc) from which a certain percentage of the proceeds will go to Cancer Research UK. More specifically I intend to do portraits of all scales, but theoretically I could make any work requested.

Prints are currently available in A5, A4 and A3 sizes, but I'm looking into printing on mugs, plates, etc. Again, if you have any specific requests, don't hesitate to contact me.

Many members of my family have been affected by cancer; This was the most logical way I saw to fundraise against it. Cancer Research UK are the worlds leading charity devoted to the cause (see website for details and events).

The traditional medium I work with is either oil on canvas or pencil and watercolour on specialist paper, but if you wish for a special piece to be produced for you I can work with any medium, paint or material requested. Please let me know well in advance to allow me to prepare for it. Examples of my artwork are here (not all of it consists of portraiture but it should provide a basic idea).

I have a Foundation degree in Art & Design from Oxford Brookes University, but aside from that have no formal training. I am always looking to explore new and exciting ways of working, favouring pencil and pen drawing, painting, mixed media and collage and attending life drawing classes regularly. Currently I am applying to art school and am embarking on two major projects that include portraiture at some level. In the long term I plan to set up my own business as a professionally trained artist and hope this project will provide a good 'taster' experience.
