Occasionally Obsessed about Nothing opened in November 2010

Occasionally Obsessed about Nothing – that’s kind of me in a nutshell! Photography, art, writing, jewellery…the list is endless!

When I was a child I had boxes and boxes of beads – some bought, some given to me as stringed necklaces by my Nan or the kindly old lady down the road, and some from charity shops. I didn’t do an awful lot with my collection of beads, I mainly used to just sit and look at them! You see, to me my beads were magical! The colours, the shapes, how the light used to bounce off them creating sparkles, I just loved them. Sometimes I’d empty them all out on the floor, and try to count them all – and then I’d put each one back in their box ready for the next time I fancied taking a peek at my “treasure”.

So, that's where it started. I made jewellery for friends and family, and then I was asked to run a workshop for women with mental health disabilities on beading. It was this workshop that fuelled the fire of my bead passion. Watching this group of women choose their selection of beads, and focus entirely on the project in hand – and the smiles on their faces when they looked at their individual creations, made me appreciate this hobby immensely.

I am very inspired by pre-Raphaelite art, the Tudor period, 1920's and anything medieval, as well as the magic of nature; trees, flowers and the sea (I’m very lucky to live just a few minutes from the sea!).

Please contact me if you would like a bespoke piece of jewellery, I am happy to take on commissions, and will work with you to create just what you want.
