Meet the maker Christine Shephard
I'm a textile artist and designer/maker. I live on the Sussex coast within earshot of the sea and a short walk to the beach, which I never tire of exploring. Most days I'm busy at my sewing machine or in my workshop, designing and making, accompanied by the radio and the cries of the gulls.
My designs are a blend of contemporary style and traditional crafts, often including a nod to the past in my selection of materials. Each item is carefully created to be just that bit different.
I love what I do, I love every item I make, and I believe it shows in the quality of my work.
As well as creating original fabrics by painting, dyeing and felting, I like to make use of rescued vintage textiles and good quality fabric remnants. I often pick up fabric pieces on my travels and receive others from generous friends. Whatever the source, they are all treasured and are the inspiration behind many of my designs.
Details of craft fairs, exhibitions and other events where you can see me and my work can be found on my website at www.ciessetextiles.co.uk
PLEASE NOTE:
All items are described and depicted as accurately as possible, however there may be some variation and actual colours may differ slightly from those shown in photographs. Dimensions given are approximate. If you would like clarification or more information about any item, please contact me before ordering.
To avoid any misunderstandings when purchasing items from my shop, please read my POLICIES below on cancellation, returns, postage & payment. All items in my shop are sold under UK/EU laws and regulations.
ORDER CONFIRMATION
I will contact you within 24 hours to acknowledge receipt of your order and to let you know the expected shipping time.
ORDER PROCESSING
Most orders are packed and dispatched within 1-2 working days unless otherwise advised. Processing times for custom-made orders will vary, but will be agreed with you before the order is accepted.
UK SHIPPING
UK orders are generally shipped by Royal Mail first-class post. Higher value orders (above £20) are usually shipped by a tracked or signed-for service; the costs of this are included in the standard postage & packing costs shown. Optional postage upgrades can be added on request.
OVERSEAS SHIPPING
Overseas orders are shipped by Royal Mail airmail. Higher value orders (above £20) are usually shipped by a tracked or signed-for service; the costs of this are included in the standard postage & packing costs shown. Optional postage upgrades can be added on request.
DELIVERY TIMES
While most packages arrive within Royal Mail's guide times, some can take a bit longer than expected, especially around holiday times, and you should allow up to 3 weeks for UK deliveries and 4-6 weeks for overseas deliveries at busy times. However, please feel free to contact me before this if you are concerned about your order.
CUSTOMS/IMPORT FEES
Customs declarations for overseas shipments will disclose the actual sales value of the goods as shown on the invoice/delivery note. Please do not ask me to mark orders as 'gifts' on the customs declaration, as this is NOT permitted.
**IMPORTANT NOTE**: International BUYERS are responsible for ALL customs charges, local taxes, handling fees or any other import charges levied. Some countries also have restrictions on importing certain goods - if you are not sure of the rules and fees that apply in your country, please check before ordering.
FAULTY/DAMAGED GOODS
If goods are received in a faulty or damaged state, or are not as described, please contact me immediately. I want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase and will work with you to put right any problems.
Under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, you have the right to reject a faulty item within 30 days of receipt and receive a full refund. After 30 days you may still be entitled to claim a repair or refund but other terms apply.
ORDER CANCELLATION
Under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receipt of goods and receive a full refund.
Please message me or contact me by e-mail BEFORE returning any goods.
Returned goods must be unused and adequately packaged to prevent damage in transit. If returned goods show signs of use or damage, the amount refunded may be reduced to compensate for loss of value.
Return postage is the BUYER'S responsibility and I would recommend obtaining proof of postage in case goods are lost.
Refunds will be given within 14 days of receipt of returned goods or proof of postage. These rights do NOT apply to custom-made, personalised or bespoke items unless the goods are faulty/damaged.
REFUNDS FOR NON-DELIVERY
Occasionally packages are delayed, and some deliveries - especially overseas deliveries - can take considerably longer to arrive than expected. Please be patient - it's very rare that packages are actually lost, so there's a good chance your order will eventually arrive.
Please remember that the postal system gets very busy around holiday periods, so do allow extra time for goods to arrive, or consider upgrading to a priority service.
I usually allow up to 3 weeks for UK orders and 4-6 weeks for international orders before refunding for non-delivery.
