Meet the maker Lucy Smethurst

I’m a self-taught crafty and I make most of my items in my own special way; I tend not to follow patterns! My items are made from recycled materials as much as possible, with some finishing touches and crucial elements bought from my local haberdashery. I love to give things a new lease of life as an unexpected item, such as a pin cushion inspired necklace, a necklace made of 35mm slides, a bag or a fascinator made of unwanted, pre-loved 7 inch records.

My shop name originates from one of the first pieces that I made in my craft career- a small handbag made from two well-loved 7” vinyl records and an old suede skirt! Since then, my love of arts and crafts has expanded to other areas such as jewellery making, knitting, dress-making and pencil drawing.
