Meet the maker Catherine Cronin

ABOUT
I have been making and exhibiting artists’ books, multiples, prints, and mixed media since completing a degree Ba (Hons) Print Media Book Arts & Craft in 2001. My work is held in private and public collections including the Tate Library artists book collection and Centre for Fine Print Research at UWE.

INSPIRATION
I am inspired to make by the everyday world around me; the everyday that stops me, makes me wonder and take the time to stand and stare. The work I create is inspired by the natural/urban environment and our human relationship with it. I want the reader of my work to feel that indefinable ‘lifting’ of the spirit that you get when experiencing beauty. There is nothing that can compare to getting your hands dirty and usually making a big mess. Sometimes though, it works. And there you have it – something that exists in it’s own right, something with a life of it’s own, something that does something to you.

I am also selling ceramic items and jewellery. I have been exploring the world of ceramics for the last 2 years which I love.
