We are a Scottish husband wife design team who enjoy working with several arts and crafts mediums.
Mike, who has a background in engineering, designs and makes things (including beads) with polymer clay. Pat is a 'jack of all trades' and enjoys designing jewellery, knitting, sewing as well as drawing and painting.
Our inspiration comes from areas as diverse as Persian carpets, sea molluscs and our lovely and dramatic sea, sky and landscape. We are lucky enough to be able to travel and enjoy taking off in our motorhome at any time of the year. Internet means we can enjoy our fabulous country and hopefully keep in touch with you at the same time. More remote areas do occasionally resist our communication efforts!
What we Use:
All jewellery components are top quality whether they are genuine silver or metal plated. We try to source fair trade whenever we can and all of our current stock of Balinese and Karen Hill tribe silver has been fair trade sourced.
All knitted items are Pat Cruse' exclusive designs. They are not copies or adaptations of other patterns. Wools used are always top quality and our preference is for pure wools and natural fibres.
We like to have a broad range of prices in our shop and those prices, we hope, fairly represent the cost of materials and the amount of work that has been invested in each piece. We do need to make a living but we refuse to charge 'Designer' prices.
If you're wondering where the name 'Shoogly' comes from.....it's a good Scottish word that describes a shaky or wobbly movement....like a wobbly table leg for instance. We think it describes a lot of the jewellery we like to make! A 'shoogly' bracelet would be the perfect charm bracelet that shakes and makes a pleasant jingling noise as you move.
We realise it can be difficult to decide about jewellery when you can't actually touch it.
'Will it fit?' is the most asked question.
Next is 'Can I return it if it doesn't suit or fit?'
If you're at all unsure just ask via the contact button we can easily give additional measurements and answer any questions you may have.
By the way...we accept returns on all of our items including earrings.
Our customer feedback record is excellent and we hope you'll take the time to read it.
Postage has recently increased considerably. We will still include gift packaging of tissue paper and organza gift bags for jewellery items but we are sorry we can no longer provide gift boxes.
You can follow us on Facebook to keep up with new items and any offers we may have in the shop.
