Meet the maker Sandra June

Welcome to my shop of unique sculptures made from wire and fabrics, for the Garden and Home.

Now well into my retirement years I have more free time to enjoy my creative side. When I discovered the fabulous drape effects that can be created using this fantastic new method of sculpture, I was hooked. Fabric sculpture is still very new, although I discovered it in 2008 and have been very busy since. Each sculpture is handmade and unique I can never make two the same.

I hope you find them interesting and maybe find that very special item that you can cherish.
Even more blurb:
The textile hardener is similar to a resin but is watersoluble, eco friendly and non-irritating. When cured, it renders the fabric to a metal like hardness that does not chip and is very strong.
The sculptures are created over a posed armature made of wire. which is 'built out' to shape, then soaked fabric strips are wrapped around the model, later the model is 'dressed' by using more coated fabric and carefully styling it into the desired effect. The finishing touches are added, hair, lace trims, hats etc. Then handpainted to add paint effects, finally three layers of varnish are applied. Sculptures average about 8 - 15 hours over a number of days or weeks to finish. The models take about 3 weeks to cure after which the outdoors ones are ready to face the elements.

Recycling
This method of sculpture allows me to use recycled materials in my scuptures if I can get it. If any are used I will say so in the description of that sculpture. I use recycled packaging for packaging because I cannot buy one-off boxes to fit the sculptures and so cut down pre-used boxes for shipping -it would be easier and much faster to buy them ;-(
These sculptures, although they may look and feel delicate, as they are lightweight for their size, are very tough being constructed in a similar way to fibreglass (the layering). So are easily moved about the garden. The hardening paste makes them waterproof and frostproof but I also finish each one with three layers of special varnishes.

Sculptures are priced dependant upon size, materials used and intricacy.

I sincerely hope you enjoy looking and do keep popping in to see what is new. If you have any questions please feel free to send me an email I would love some feedback.
If you would like a commission please note it will take 4 - 6 weeks to complete an order depending upon complexity as they take 3 weeks to fully cure.

Many thanks for reading this far. Sandra
