Meet the maker Natalie Doncaster
Hello! My name is Natalie and I have been creating beautiful, handmade jewellery for over 10 years.
I used to have my own studio at Wimbledon Art Studios in South West London - the biggest artist studio complex in Europe. I have now moved away from London and have my own, home studio.
A Metal Clay Artisan and silver jewellery designer-maker, all of the pieces in my Folksy shop are designed and made in the UK by me.
I am a qualified silversmith, member of the UK Art Clay Guild, Art Clay Silver Senior Instructor and British Jewellery Association (BJA) member. I also have my own makers mark at the London Assay Office, which is where my silver jewellery is hallmarked.
I use semi-precious gemstones, genuine Swarovski Crystallized Elements (TM) and handmade lampwork art glass beads in my jewellery, along with Fine silver and Sterling silver.
Most of my work is created from Art Clay Silver - an amazing, eco-friendly product made with microscopic particles of recycled silver (mostly derived from silver nitrate - a by-product of photograph processing) suspended in an organic binder. You work with it like regular, ceramic clay but when it is fired it turns to pure silver and can be hallmarked as Fine Silver (999), which is more pure than Sterling silver (925).
As I use a kiln for firing my silver clay it means I can also create other kiln-fired items, like the fused glass components in some of my jewellery. I also teach glass-fusing at The London Jewellery School in Hatton Garden.
I design and create beautiful, one-of-a-kind, timeless pieces of jewellery at affordable prices because I believe that "exclusive" doesn't have to mean "expensive". I am also happy to undertake commissions.
All of my handmade charms are compatible with my own handmade charm bracelets and necklaces, as well as all leading manufacturers - Pandora, Thomas Sabo, Links of London, Chrysalis and Troll Beads etc.
