Meet the maker Mark Sabine
As I hurtle toward my thirties I am on a marathon adventure to become the best, most creative version of myself possible. Following several years of amazing success in his professional life (I can only assume that he is better behaved at work as I always thought - and I say this with affection - that he was a bit of a wally!) my partner has packed us up and shipped us off to a new life in the Scottish Highlands!
I've always been interested in all things crafty, but have finally settled on a love of textiles. Having been taught to knit by my partner's Mum (Gill Challis from Artisan Threads - www.artisanthreads.co.uk), I now knit, crochet, spin or sew almost every day. As this is a biography, I would love to spend some time telling you about my 'other interests'. Somehow, however, over the last few years, fibre crafts have gradually and overwhelmingly taken over my life and now i rarely think of anything else! Nevertheless, I enjoy reading, travel and period drama films. I love shopping, adore animals of all kinds and have a serious stubborn streak. I believe that people with flaws are more compelling and more beautiful than those that are, or at least profess to be, close to perfect.
I am inspired by many things but get awfully excited by anything that nods toward art deco or 1950s. I've also discovered a strange passion for vintage mirrors and now own MANY more than I have rooms in which to hang them!
I now live in Aberdeenshire with my partner, Nathan, and my three gorgeous babies - a beautiful Bengal cat named 'Archie', my adorable Staffordshire Bull Terrier 'Denny' and the totally nuts Dobermann 'Bruce'.
