Meet the maker Kristy Eighteen
Kristy Bean Eighteen grew up in Burnley, in a family that was constantly making something - whether sewing, glueing, painting & drawing, it would have been pretty difficult to grow up with no creative talents whatsoever.
From 1995 - 1997 she attended Nelson & Colne college to study Art & Design, which covered subjects from textiles & sculpture to film & photography. She left with 3 A Levels in Fine Art, Photography & Product Design.
After leaving college she lost her way a little, until the year 1999 when she started working in Vintage to Fetish, in the world famous Afflecks Palace. Leaving the best job she had ever had in April 2005 due to being diagnosed with cervical cancer, she resolved do more of the things she loves, & spent two years perfecting her own style of unique sock monkeys!
Initially given away as gifts they proved such a hit with family & friends she decided to take them in to show her ex boss at Afflecks, who fell in love straight away! The sock monkeys proved a hit & sold out pretty much as soon as they hit the shelves, & KristyBean18 soon found herself sewing night & day. Unfortunately the evil Bruntwoods took over the much loved Afflecks Palace & Kristy vowed never to set foot through the doors again, instead deciding to take the opportunity to reach a wider audience through the fabulous folksy.com!
Kristy decided on the name of Skullduggery for her various wares, keep an eye on the shop as Kristy will be uploading different hand made products all the time; previous makes include paintings, mobiles (the hanging kind!) & greetings cards. Recently Kristy has got into the movement known as Steampunk, and, truly inspired she has made some jewellery that Jules Vern would be proud to keep in his hold!
