Meet the maker Juline Batchelor

Working in stained glass started 11 years ago back in 2002. I first started by attending a weekend course and have been totally addicted since! More courses and training soon followed and my hobby soon grew to much more.
My love of glass and the beautiful landscape from where I live provide me with a wealth of inspiration, leaving me bursting with design ideas and enthusiasm, and so my journey in stained glass began.
I mainly use the copper foil or ‘Tiffany’ technique as used by the world famous Louis Tiffany to produce his beautiful lampshades.
Each piece of glass is hand cut to size then the edges are wrapped with copper foil tape, burnished, which then allows the edges of the glass to be soldered together. This technique means that I am able to design and make very delicate and intricate designs.
Over the last 2 years I have been experimenting with glass fusing, I love making jewellery using this technique. Working with glass especially dichroic is my absolute passion! The way the light plays with the colour, and the way in which the colour changes during the firing process, not really knowing what delight is waiting when you open the kiln.
