Meet the maker Claire Phillips

Originally I studied textile design at the Glasgow school of art specialising in yarn design, knitting and felt making. I then worked for Tait and Style in the Orkney island when specialised in needlepunched felted fabrics for fashion and furnishing. From there I worked at Judith glue knitwear working on a range of felted knitwear.
In 1996 I opened the gift shop and gallery Scoskie in Largs and started making handmade cards on a larger scale. Started my family in 2002 and carried on making cards and working in paper crafts.......
I have been lucky to work with many great papercrafters and have been on several design teams including Polkadoodles. Some of my designs have been turned into rubber by Polkadoodles.
2012 by chance I was invited to woolfest with friends Vicky and Rita.....and my enthusiasm for textiles returned .....I was born to felt and dye fibres.....I couldn't be happier!
Living by the seaside is my biggest inspiration as is the world in my garden and all the fabulous colours.......
If I can be of help, please ask. Xxx
