Meet the maker Fired Silver

Hi, and welcome to Fired Silver, I make unique, handcrafted jewellery and accessory items.

My love of making jewellery started a number of years ago, with a silversmithing evening class, which I went to for a few years (to make use of the college's equipment!). While trawling the internet for advice on setting up a small, home workshop, I came accross a product called PMC (Precious Metal Clay). This product totally changed my jewellery direction. The clay contains very fine silver particles and once the clay is fired, the binder burns away leaving a fine silver piece of jewellery that can be hallmarked. After taking my certification classes, I began to experiment and get to know the product. Sculptural work is easier to achieve and I love the fact that texture can easily be added to make jewellery that's more unique.

Although I work primarily with metal clay, as additions, I use fused glass, lampwork beads, enamel, chainmaille, resin and semi precious stones.

As much as is possible every part of my jewellery is handmade by me. I have a passion for lampwork beads, but cannot make them myself! So I use UK lampwork artists' beads alongside my silver work to create a finished piece of jewellery. I always name the lampwork artist, so you'll know exactly where they've come from.

As well as the work that is displayed in my store, I will happily undertake commissions, so if you're looking for something particular, please let me know.
