Meet the maker Louise McLaren
I create delicate, intricately patterned papercut images that celebrate the beautiful heartfelt moments of life.
I produce all my papercuts and screen prints in my studio which is situated in the house which I share with my partner, our two small boys and dog. Our home nestles on the edge of the village of Comrie in Perthshire, Scotland. It is surrounded by woodland and our garden is home to hens, ducks, bees and the odd vegetable or two! We're also lucky enough to have the river Earn flowing past the bottom of our garden.
The catalyst for each one of my designs is the words contained within them. Each fragment speaks about the "big" things in life; love, family, friendship and the possibilities of being. Visually I'm constantly inspired by the changing seasons and the nature surrounding our house. I also love the imagery used in Scandinavian and Eastern European folk art and the Arts and Crafts Movement.
