Meet the maker
I am a mother of two beautiful daughters (four if you count the two nine week old kittens we adopted last week) and I live in a gorgeous little house in Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District.
I lived in America for 14 years and returned home 14 months ago. Home as in England - I had never been to Sheffield but grew up in North London.
As I child I was always creating something (havoc my parents would say...). I was knitting and sewing by the age of seven and was making clothes for my Cindy doll by the age of 10. I seem to remember a rather fetching string bikini that I knitted her. Soon after I took up patchwork, then started selling my artwork to any unsuspecting customers that were willing to part with their money :)
In my late teens I discovered a passion for life drawing and took up portraiture and by 22 I had a painting selected by the Society of Women artists for their annual exhibition.
At the age of 30 we moved to America, and with two young children creativity went on hold; apart from showing off with the decorating of their birthday cakes and making impressive things out of playdough and snow!!!
In 2009 I discovered the ins and outs of PhotoStudio - a software similar to Photoshop. I soon realised the infinite possibilities it gave me to create unique images using the vintage ephemera that I have collected over the years. I have continued to source items from flea markets, antique fairs and through trusted sellers online that provide royalty free images.
I use the designs I create to make jewellery, housewares, giftware and stationery. My favourite items are the gift tags. I can make as many as 200 in a day, but when I get up the next morning I find myself ready and wanting to make more. There is something utterly irresistible about them, no matter how many one is surrounded by :) Of course when I come up with a new image to use the love affair starts all over again.
Thank you for stopping by and if you have taken the time to read all of this drivel I apologise that I haven't left you must time to browse - enjoy :)
