Meet the maker Cat Brown

Cat's Ceramics. Handmade Ceramics by Cat Brown.

Hand built
Ceramic Artist Cat Brown creates her unique range of ceramics using ancient pottery hand building techniques. Each item is created individually and formed entirely by hand without the use of a potter's wheel or moulds. This is a much more time consuming and intricate process but one that brings a deeper appreciation and understanding of every piece created.

Inspired by the natural world many of Cat's pieces feature the imprints and textures of plants and organic matter that she has sourced from her wanders about the South of the UK. She also incorporates man made found objects into many of her pieces.

Much of Cat's work use's eco friendly practises where ever possible, lead free and non harmful glazes are used, trying to minimise the impact on the environment as much as possible. All packaging is recycled and recycled glass is a frequent presence in her pieces. When heated the solid glass melts into a molten lava-like state that once cooled vitrifies with the clay. Beautiful shimmering jewel like colours are produced.
Working with recycled and used materials and the ceramic process in general always brings an element of chance and no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
You can be sure you are getting a unique piece of ceramic art.
