Meet the maker Catherine Peddel

I start by preparing the background. This might be screen printing, lino printing or dyeing on a length of fabric. From this I carefully select areas that have interest and would be ideal for the background. Other fabric may be from the same dyeing process would be used to add features, the flowers and leaves, teapots or vases. Much thought goes into the placement of the flowers and details. These are then machine stitched in place. Maybe some more printing or stamping will take place. Until the piece says, leave it be.
