Meet the maker Tracy Pawlett
Because of Annie is named after my dog, Annie, a border collie I adopted as an RSPCA rescue in April 2009. Annie is completely deaf and also suffers from epilepsy. I created Because of Annie to allow me to work from home so that Annie is never left on her own.
I am entirely self taught and started out making beaded jewellery using crystals, gemstones and other beads coupled with simple wire working techniques. Then one day, I discovered epoxy resin and have since become obsessed. I love the creative process involved in mixing and hand pouring the resin - often a single drop at a time!
My resin jewellery consists of a range of necklaces featuring art and quotations set in the resin in a pendant base. Many of the designs are my own creations and you won’t find them anywhere else. I also offer custom necklaces made using your own photographs and quotes, as well as items made from your ultrasound scan pictures!
My resin stud earrings also feature art and quotations but these are printed onto plastic rather than paper. I love finding new art and creating new designs for these earrings. While some artwork is purchased ready to print, again many of the designs are created by me with my blank templates and graphic design software and they’re unique to Because of Annie.
I also create enamel jewellery using copper blanks which are then coated with enamel and fired, fusing the enamel to the copper to produce colourful pieces in glossy, bright colours. Many of my enamel pieces also feature Swarovski crystals too and the earrings are all suspended from a pair of my own hand crafted sterling silver ear wires.
Annie’s epilepsy is now fairly well controlled by medication, good diet and regular blood tests. She is not insured and every penny I make from my jewellery sales goes towards her care and ensures I can stay home with her every single day so she is never alone
