Meet the maker Mandy Gordon

Saving the planet one shirt at a time!

I started my shop a few years ago now and I started off by customising and upcycling clothes. I trained in fashion and clothing production many years ago in my native South Africa.

From customising clothes I have made a natural progression into turning unloved and unwanted articles of clothing into gorgeous things such as cushions, aprons, bags and brooches to name but a few.

I carefully source and select textiles that can be turned into something else and thus prevent it from ending up in landfill. A shirt becomes a gorgeous cushion. A tweed skirt or jacket becomes a bag and any left over fabric gets turned into brooches or hearts to hang on your wall or wardrobe.

I re-use packaging wherever possible when sending out my parcels and my business cards are printed on recycled card.

Caring for our environment is a passion of mine and I hope you will like the items I make and know that in purchasing something made by Birdy in a Pear Tree you too will be doing your small bit in helping the environment ...
