Meet the maker Allison Jill Reid

As far back as I can remember I have always been designing and making! A love of fabrics and colour and a desire to combine practicality with beauty have been my inspiration. Patchwork and quilting have become a bit of an obsession! Traditional and modern blocks and patterns mixed with the huge variety of fabrics now available provide endless possibilities...

I live with my family in Hampshire with and enjoy the beautiful countryside as well as the busy towns. I am a member of Roundabout Quilters, Basingstoke, and enjoy sewing days with friends from the local quilting community. I work from home, using a combination of pencil & paper and computer software to design quilts. I piece and quilt my creations using my Pfaff domestic sewing machine. I've found that creating items that can be both practical and beautiful is a wonderful way to echo something of the Creation that surrounds us.

I teach patchwork and quilting skills at a local quilt shop, Purple Stitches, to new converts to the craft and those who want to advance their skills. I am also venturing into developing my designs into patterns and intend to publish these for sale and for use in workshops..

Patchwork quilting is a craft practiced worldwide and I share my enthusiasm through my blog, www.neweverymorningpatchworkandquilting.com and through my Facebook and Instagram pages. You are welcome to find out more about me and the projects I'm currently working on via these pages.
