Beautiful fabrics and haberdashery, from my stash to yours!

I’m Sharon, also known as The Old Button ( Y Hen Botwm in Welsh), which came about because of a box of old buttons my grandmother gave me when I started making things as a child. I have sewn as long as I can remember - tackling anything from wedding dresses to curtains, and from aprons for school fetes to costuming stage musicals as diverse as Seussical and Les Miserables.

I have another shop on Folksy - The Old Button Sews - where I design and make hand crafted items for children and the home. I love using both new and recycled fabric, and embellishing them with hand embroidery, applique and buttons.

Over the years I have amassed a vast amount of fabric and haberdashery from my dressmaking and costuming, and also from The Old Button Sews. I can't possibly use all of this to make new things, so I'm setting up this shop to make sure my fabric mountain doesn't languish unloved.

I'll be listing some stunning fabrics including new and unused quilting cotton, designer dressmaking fabrics and curtain material, as well as some beautiful preloved or vintage remnants. On the haberdashery and notions side, I have some preloved and vintage lace and trims, plus the occasional sewing tool. And of course some OLD BUTTONS from my many boxes and tins. Keep coming back, as I'll always have something new.

I also want to encourage people to start sewing and have recently started a range of slow stitching kits - which are currently on The Old Button Sews shop, but I may move them here soon. I am hoping to expand these kits, and also to offer patterns and kits for many of my designs.
