Tickboxcards Originals was born after wondering what to do with the many paintings I completed when spending time abroad with very little to do and see in some very hot and restrictive parts of the world for months on end.
During those times, with way too much time on my hands I experimented with paints and found that oil paints were an artists dream if you don’t like something you’ve created for whatever reason, and want to make changes.
The down side is that they take forever to dry and are impractical if you’re short of space and like me a prolific painter.
I then turned my attention to watercolours that dried quicker but left no room to make changes to what I had painted.
I found that I had to plan a painting to be very sure that every brush stroke was where it needed to be, which until that point had not been my style, and amongst the abundant eclectic output that ensued once I had got the hang of using watercolours, the vivid and vibrant flower and crockery paintings were created.
As much as I disliked being away from home at the time, I am now able to look back and realise that it is thanks to those experiences that I have a collection of artwork that would never have seen the light of day had I stayed home.
Having managed to get my paintings on to my computer, by fair means or foul, (mostly foul) I began to imagine that I could make better use of them rather than they sit languishing under the bed alongside the dust as wall space in my gaff is at a premium, by using them for greeting cards, that I hope others will like too.
