Profile

I initially started out as an interior designer, but since 1994, I've worked in art departments for film & tv, most recently as an art director.
I'm hugely interested in the creative process and the link to well being and mystical things too. My folksy shop is an outlet for little ideas and projects that I make at home in between.

I wanted to have a manageable creative business that was an outlet for designs and things that I make.
One of my main aims is to almost 'make something out of nothing', using the minimal materials, 'upcycling' where I can and not overstretching the earth's resources.

The name 'the patchwork dress' came from a friend's father, who stated that it wasn't wrong to be skilled in several disciplines and be 'the girl in the patchwork dress' ... I also love patchwork quilts and the analogy of little bits of life stitched together.

Hence you will find a variety of bits and pieces in my shop!

I live in the Loch Lomond National Park, Scotland - which is also hugely inspiring to me.
