Meet the maker Emma Wilson
Pumpkinsputnik Papergoods are designed and made in Glasgow by me, Emma Wilson. I started making books in 2005, I’ve always loved stationery and used to make my own notebooks and sketchbooks while at art school. There is something very exciting about making a book – transforming a pile of paper into something more and knowing that people are going to write their thoughts and ideas in it – all those possibilities! My designs are influenced by my surroundings here in lovely Scotland. Trees and flowers feature heavily and in particular my last two collections have featured hydrangeas – my favourite flowers. It’s very important to me to use good quality materials, the cartridge paper I use inside the books is thick and creamy and can handle paint and glue just as well as a lovely pen or pencil. The watercolour card I use for the covers is heavy and has a lovely texture which works really well with the designs and adds to the feeling of luxury and permanence. I really hope people will use and treasure these books for a long time, build up a collection and keep your ideas, dreams, plans, stories or sketches safe.
