Janet Allinson Profile

I live in Lincolnshire with hubby Pete, daughter Milly and a rescue cat named Boo Boo, in a dear little white cottage by the sea. After leaving my career as a newspaper reporter (for the local papers in my home town for 17 years) to home-school my daughter, I returned to my art roots to find a new way of making money. I got into recycling fabrics about 2006 (when my husband began hiding his favourite shirts!). Now I scour the charity shops for anything with an interesting design, especially spots and stripes! I also use end of roll fabrics, remnants and scraps teamed with retro print fabrics and vintage fabrics. My most recent buy was a vintage Hungarian linen flour sack. The linen is of beautiful quality and I love the idea of weaving some of that history into my makes - I hope you do too.
The Millicent Cats and Mice grew from my love of animals. I enjoy just observing them; watching their expressions and trying to recreate that in my work. Each item I make is completely unique - hand stitched by the stove in winter and under the sun in summer. I'm a member of the Alford Craft Market and the Country Crafts Association.

PRICING TERMS FOR SHOPS
Because I don't mass produce and try to keep my products affordable, prices are as low as they will go - which does mean there is not a trade price. But I hope you feel the reasonable pricing allows you a margin to put on your own mark up.

POSTAGE
Where possible I try to use recycled padded envelopes, which I ensure are well sealed before posting. I also use recyled bubble wrap (where possible) for extra padding, if needed. I send all parcels first class post.
