Meet the maker Jo Neil

My work has always been based on found and collected objects. These might be everyday objects that evoke memories, either by association or because they exist as a sort of souvenir. I like to find beauty in the mundane and everyday. Childhood is often a source of inspiration and provides me with interesting narratives and imagery to work with.

My practice has evolved from a fine art background and I like to work with materials and techniques suitable for my ideas rather than confine myself to one discipline. For me felt is an ideal medium to explore ideas with because of its ‘range’. It can be sculptural, painterly, textural or minimal and works well with many other materials.
