Meet the maker Simon Winward

Hello, my name is Simon Winward. I am 25 and I live in Lyme Regis, Dorset. In august 2008 I made my first bear, just to see if I could do it. As the winter closed in and there was less and less on the TV I made more bears. Winward Bear Co. was born. Some were Christmas presents, some were sold in a local shop and now I'm making them just for folksy. What started as a personal challenge has escalated into an addiction.
I make all my bears from scratch, buying the best quality mohair and alpaca. I try to use as many different finishes of mohair as I can. At the moment my favourite is a grey curly mohair which is perfect for that worn out little character.
The best thing about bear-making is that you never know what the finished bear will be like. Each one is unique and there will never be another one like it.
