Meet the maker
Wasted & Wounded is the brainchild of John Cheves, a designer, photographer and musician based on the English south coast. In his short time on planet earth John has worked as a cleaner in a sausage factory and a satellite dish salesman. He’s been a staff photographer for the UK’s ‘best selling music magazine’, played guitar for the King of Spain, and been out to dinner with Jay-Z.
John studied photography at Trent Polytechnic in Nottingham and went on to become a renowned music photographer, whose work has been published around the world in publications including NME and Rolling Stone. As a musician, John has toured and recorded with cult band Piano Magic, and collaborated with acclaimed Spanish film-maker Bigas Luna.
His letterpress prints for Wasted & Wounded combine John’s passion for music and design to create exquisite images that pay homage to some of the greatest songwriters we have known, whilst standing in their own right as beautiful examples of the art of typography.
