Clare Thompson Profile

My Grandmother taught me to knit and crochet, over time I have favoured crochet. I started making baby shawls for my friends and family when they were expecting new arrivals.
I was told that I would never have children of my own due to PCOS so took joy for being able to make the shawls for my friends babies.
In February 2004 my first miracle happened, I found out I was expecting a child of my own and my daughter was born in September 2004 needless to say she never went without a blanket!
Then in March 2008 I found out I was expecting again, my second miracle, my son was born in November 2008.

I crochet in my spare time usually in the evening when the children are tucked up in bed and when I am at baby and toddler group which I help to run.My blankets are unique as I tend to make up the patterns as I go along so no two are the same.
I craft in a smoke free environment and wash the blankets in a non bio washing liquid and sensitive conditioner.
For Delivery the shawls are folded and then tied with a white ribbon then wrapped in white tissue paper then I put them in a large Jiffy bag for delivery.
I post the parcels 1st class recorded delivery which insures the parcel upto the value of £39 this is reflected in the postal charge.
I am now expecting my third child due in October 2011 and have a new craft, sock bunnies, I love making them and feel that each one has a little personality of its own, they are made from a new pair of socks and have up-cycled buttons for eyes and a hand embroidered smile, they are filled with a machine washable filling which is also fire retardant, although I sew on the eyes securely they are not intended to be toys as they do not carry a safety mark that said both of my children have them and numerous friends and family children too and as yet not one eye has gone astray. They make a lovely present and keepsake for any occasion not just easter. Children and adults love them and they are wonderfully cuddly and soft.
I hope this gives you an understanding of who I am and that I do my craft as an act of love and not as a business.
