Charlotte Linder Profile

My name is Charlotte Linder and I am a Botanical Artist working in Watercolour on Paper. I was born in Sweden but presently live in the UK.

Throughout my life I have developed a passionate interest in art, crafts and gardening. During the time I stayed at home with my four children I spent much time growing all our vegetables, flowers and herbs, and decorating our home using traditional painting methods such as marbling and graining. I also taught the art of traditional Swedish basket painting, using egg tempera and pigment.

After moving to England with my family in 2000, I studied for my Certificate of Botanical Illustration at Leicester College and have also participated in short-courses at The Chelsea Physic Garden, London.
I am a member of the Leicestershire Society of Botanical Illustrators (LSBI), and The Society of Botanical Artists, SBA.

I have exhibited several times in Westminster, London with SBA and at various locations in the UK with LSBI.
I have also had exhibitions in Sweden and at the RHS London Flower Show, where I have been awarded bronze and silver medals.

Composition plays a very important part in my work and I always try to find new and interesting ways of arranging the subject on the paper. Even when I am not painting I am always on the lookout for a plant, fruit or vegetable which has a personality or movement that inspires me.
